2 seconds from wipeout

Today was my weekly market run on the bike for fresh meat and veg. It was "drizzling" whatever that is supposed to mean. All I know is I was set to go out in it in my open face helmet which turned out to be a bad idea. Quick U-turn and back home for the full face and I was set. The roads were very slippery and I could feel the back wheel had problems gripping in the corners so I took it nice and easy - and stayed out of the way as best I could from the cagers who all seemed to have gone speed crazy.

Anyway, on the way back from the market I'd just gone through Brighton at the lights when I saw a massive bloodhound break away from it's owner and head for the road. It did that stupid happy dog jumping thing, kicking its legs out and bounding about straight into the car behind me. I could hear the thud over the sound of my engine. Frown

The dog seemed to be ok as it bounded back to the sidewalk and the cars all stopped so there was no need for me to stay there.

I couldn't help thinking that if that thing had run into the side of my bike that it would have knocked me for a six!

  • Glad you are ok and the dog too. Another second and you probably wouldn't have jumped back up and ran to the side walk.
