I had three rides I could have gone on this weekend. Two today (Daylesford or Bendigo) and one on Sunday (with the Ulysses Club).

Sunday was out because it's my wedding anniversary - some days you just gotta stay home.

I wasn't going to go on a ride today because my wife is sick, but when I woke this morning it was such a beautiful day and the thought of being stuck at home really didn't appeal to me at all. I decided to go on the ride to Bendigo with the Melbourne Star Riders group because I have never ridden with these guys before and it was a great opportunity to meet them.

It took about an hour to get from my house to Sunbury McDonalds where the ride was due to start. Once the guys had arrived, we headed off to Lancefield where we stopped for a warm drink and a smoke, and then on to Bendigo.

Some great roads out that way, and apart from one stupid cager who wanted to play Mad Max with us it was a great run with not much traffic. We got into Bendigo at around 1pm.

Sadly, I couldn't stay to go to the pie shop - apparently this shop makes the best pies. Besides the fact that I was full of the best wood-fired pizza EVER and had no room for pies, I had to head home as I had some things to do. It was a nice run back down the Calder to Melbourne - 110km/h most of the way and again not too much traffic.

It really was a great day and a great ride - better than sitting at home for sure!
