Hi! I'm John ... (CroMagna Man) Welcome to my web site from the sunny state of Florida!
I'm a father to four, (lost my first born son in an auto accident six weeks prior to his 19th birthday), a grandfather to three, and a husband to one. I'm pushing 60 years old HARD, but age is just another number for the most part. I live in an almost a hundred year old farm home, totally restored on three and a fourth acres of land that takes almost all my free time just keeping the property groomed.
Although I also own a 2001 800cc Intruder, most of the time my arse is slapped into the 1995 Magna's saddle. I have been riding full time since 1980 or so, a total of over 30 years now, and have been a member here at Cruiser Customizing from even before there was a "Community" to belong to.
The Magna is by far and beyond the best bike I have ever owned or ridden … and I have had my butt slapped into the saddle of everything from Harleys to Crotch Rockets. Though it’s classified as a “Mid Sized Bike” cruiser, it redlines at almost 10,000 RPM and has almost a hundred horsepower off the rear end with a just a little bit of effort and tweaking by me. This bike will blow the side panels off the slamming 6 cylinder Valkyrie, and at one point, the 1983 Magna V65 1100cc was the fastest production bike in the world.
My “3rd Generation” 1995 Magna is no slouch either! It's a four cylinder motor matched up with four 34mm carbs and a five speed tranny. My "baby" will punch you in the gut like a baseball bat when you crack the throttle. It’s a shame that the production of the Magna stopped in 2004, but since the engine plant is "bullet proof" and the bike was built with good old fashioned quality … well ... it means there’s still plenty of them out there and YOU can get one too if you want! (LOL)
There’s no wonder that my motto really is … “Take the long way home!”
If you are ever traveling in the "Pan Handle" of Florida, and want to stay for a night or two in a beautiful restored farm home ... or if you just want to ride with a companion for awhile, drop me a line!
As Pioneer Girl has said on her home page, "It takes four wheels to move your body, but only two wheels to move your soul!" So true!
Finally, I want to do a "shout out" to one of my best friends that I met here at CCC, Don Boyer, "Copperguy". I would call him "Copper Top" as a nod to the "Matrix" movies, where all of human kind was used almost as a "Copper Top" Duracell battery to power the machine technology that had taken over the world and mankind. Though a horrible "accident" ended his life at the sad young age of 44 on July 11, 2011, he remains a dear and close friend to many of us here at CCC. I truly cannot even get on my bikes without thinking of Don and remembering his family in my heart. If you have the time and inclination, click on this link that will take you to his home page here at CCC and drop a little note into his profile. I believe he still rides with us in spirit, and he was truly a good and dedicated man towards his family, the folks here at CCC, and the Marine Corps from which he had retired. He's still loved and missed horribly by hundreds of people around the world. RIP my good friend.
