I have always been interested in motorcycling ever since I was a kid, but my childhood dream was to become a pilot (hence the name flyer49). I obtained a private pilot’s license but have since let it lapse due to the prohibitive cost of keeping it current. Freedom 55 took on a special meaning for me when I took delivery of my first bike in April, 2005, a brand new Vulcan 800, straight out of the crate with less than 2 km on it. Having just completed a motorcycle safety course, it was a perfect bike to start on and I have since ridden over 62,000 km on it. With my new found love of motorcycling, the freedom of the open road, wind in your face and the unobstructed view is not unlike flying in many ways. Living in Calgary, AB, Canada, we are very fortunate to be close to some of the most spectacular mountain scenery to be found anywhere, and there is no better perspective to enjoy it from than on a bike. Photography has been a life-long hobby and passion for me and riding my bike has become the best possible way to take me to those awesome places to photograph. Since becoming a member of CCC, I have met many others with the same passion and it has become a great place to share experiences, photos, ideas and friendship. Thank you CCC!!
My favorite T-shirts say it all . . . “Ride It Like You Stole It” and “Old Guys Rule”.
