About me:

I'm an extremely happy owner of an '08 Raider. Thanks so much for all the positive remarks and comments on my photos! I can't respond to each one but they are all well received. Anyhow, I'm a cross country riding fool, and a full time crane operator for Crane Rental Corporation. I love my family, exotic pets, photography, golf, my career, my dressed out '08 Candy Red Raider and my sexy wife but not exactly in that order. As a diehard Harley rider for 22 years, my first ride across America was in '82, with my Air Force NCO on our rigid Panheads, to Thunder Bay Canada from Florida. I also rode on the island of St. Croix from '92 to '93 and toured Maui in '99. I often noticed tho that all the metric bikes were so much more reliable and better built so I asked, dug and researched enough to decide that it might not be a bad idea to consider leaving the dark side for a Japanese bike. Our '99 Muai vacation made up my mind completely with a free test ride of a new '99 Kawasaki Drifter. So when we returned stateside I sold my '70 FLH and my '57 Panhead after 13 and 22 years of ownership repectively. Then I bought a new 2000 Drifter 800. It was so sweet! 51,000 miles later I bought an '02 Warrior, which I rode across America 3 times, including 3 Saddle Sore Iron Butt rides and a 2nd roundtrip ride to Canada in '07 to tour Quebec. I put 68,000 trouble free miles on it. Then I read about the 'Star Raider' and had an instant attraction to it. So in late '08 I upgraded to this Candy Red 'S' model and have been blown away by the total package! Rideability, power, handing, performance, braking, styling and comfort. This is the bike that I use now to see the rest of the North American Continent, hence the dresser and touring upgrades. Presently I only lack Vermont as a mainland state that I have not ridden to, roundtrip from Florida. I will hit Vermont in the summer of '13 when we tour Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. By then I will have all the mainland states 'and' all of Canada from St. Johns Newfoundland to Alaska on my m/c's. No regrets except that Yamaha didn't build a Raider much sooner!
