About me:

My name is Gaye and I'm originally from NZ, currently living in Cairns Australia. I'm was born in the early 70's but think the 80s were my era. Great times - horrendous hair styles but oh what fun those times were.
That's me in nutshell (being brief) - the below is not so brief and basically me rambling...

I am fairly new to riding, having got my licence a couple of yrs ago - but haven't really put many kms on any of bikes. i learnt on a Honda CB250 but was too scared to go any higher so I ended up with a Resricted licence. I bought myself a little Virago 250. She was perfect - light and easy to handle - an excellent beginners bike. When I got more confidence in my riding ability I started to get really pissed at the limitations of the bike - mainly being that anything at 80kms and over was very uncomfortable. The handlebars would shake and you really had to twist and hold the throttle just to keep her on 100kms. i finally upgraded in Nov 09 to a  Vstar 650 classic. She handles 100km very well. (and them some). It's taken me 5.5mnths to do 1000kms. But last weekend I put 287.7kms on her in one day. Yahoo!!! :) :) ......I could barely walk at the end of it.

In Cairns it gets very hot and wet in the summer months which makes riding very uncomfortable - hence the low kms since I've had it. Now that we are in May it has cooled down a little and the rain has stopped so the riding weather is very much more agreeable. Now I've just got to find places to ride to. I get bored very easily.

I'm a solo rider -  - this doesn't bother me too much. The one or two other solo riders I've met like to ride their bikes flat out. I'm more of a cruising girl. Just get on the bike and see where it takes me. Also I'm still not very good with the twisty ranges that lead out of Cairns yet. So this slows me down a bit.

I've always wanted to ride over/through the rockies in Canada. I don't know where this dream came from, but it's something I've always wanted to do. Several years ago I went home (NZ) and joined my dad and my sister on a  small tour of the South Island of NZ. This was amazing. I want to go and do it all over again without the time restriction though. My dad has an 1800 Goldwing whilst my sister has a 1500 Goldwing trike. They are both members of the NZ Goldwing club and have put mega miles on their goldwings.

I'd like to build up my confidence enought to move up to a large touring bike so I can just leave this life behind for a while whilst I hit the open roads and see some more of the world via 2 wheels.

That's enough about me for now....I don't want to write a novel or anything... hope you all stay safe and enjoy the ride Cool

Interest and hobbies:
My bike (Vstar 650), reading (fantasy, forensics), baking, travel (if I had money).

I would like to meet:
I can't think of anyone I'd really like to meet and I'm not sure what I'd say to the people I'd like to meet other than "Hello - nice to meet you".
Or maybe the HR person from Google, then I can add 'do you have any jobs going...."That's if the email going around about their workplace is true.

Best attribute:
Beyond caring about my worst attributes. If I'm being honest though - I like my hair the best. It's very long, silky soft and all natural (never been coloured) it's a light reddish (some may say strawberry blond - I don't). The colour depends on the season.
I can be outgoing, loud and adventurous if the company is suitable.

Worst attribute:
Self conscious, overweight etc, etc...

Favorite bands and musicians:
Def Leppard.
My music tastes are wide and varied depending on my mood. (Bon Jovi, Guns'n'Roses, Meatloaf, ZZtop, Whitesnake, Cher, Eagles, Beach Boys, Enya, Classical, Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers...)just a few. Strange I can't think of fav current bands/musicians just at the moment.

Stargate SG1, NCIS, Supernatural, Bones, Doctor Who, Top Gear, SG Universe & SG Atlantis.

I'm not really a sporty person but would love to find the energy to get back into some stuff.
On a recent holiday I tried Line-Dancing and that was a blast.
I've tried abseiling and loved that, even though my heart was going triple time. On a brief trip to Alaska I tried Ziplining (that was cool).I'd love to learn to kayak.

Canada - (BC, Alberta, Alaska, Victoria Is). I haven't been else where in Canada - yet. In the US, I'd love to get to Montana area, yellowstone - almost anywhere outside of cities. NZ - South Island. Southern France was quite nice too. I'd love to be on a bike next time though.
