It has been quite a while since I have logged...
I've been riding for about 37 years both on-road and off. In my youth, I used to love competing in Observed Trials. It is truly an art to ride a bike through places you can't even walk through or climb over. Now, I am strictly a road-warrior. The '06 Roadie 1700 I have now is an alright ride for an old fart like me. It better be. It's likely to be the last bike I ever buy.
Up until about two years ago, I was a dedicated volunteer firefighter serving primarily as a Fire Policeman. I was a Line Officer within the fire company. I am state certified in Grid Search and Swift Water Rescue. I was a Top 10 Firefighter Responder and a Top Five Fire Police Responder for years. Unfortunately, my bod decided it didn't want to play anymore. I am now totally disabled and unable to do that which I loved. There are no words to describe how much I miss helping my fellow man. But there are a things that I can still do that I WILL NOT GIVE UP cuz NOBODY LIKES A QUITTER!
I am the bass player in our local cover band, Department 24. We do all hit classic rock and oldies dance music. Yep, we ARE the party band for those over the age of musical maturity! That means no rap, no crap, and no kiddie bop (see old video I posted)! Nuthin' but rock n' roll! And, of course, there's riding the steel horse. My days of longer rides were over until I recently got hooked up with a Mustang saddle set. My bod is definitely messed up, but the Mustang set doesn't add any insult to injury. My problem is progressive, though. There may come a day when I have to winch myself on and off of my bike, but there will never come a day that I will quit riding. As for my music, I don't care if someday I arrive at a gig on a gurney and have to get a stand to hold up my guitar for me, I will not quit playing. Aside from my loving wife who stands by me always, music and biking are the last passions in life I have left. I am not prepared to give those up now nor will I ever.
