I started on a totegoat (anyone remember what a totegoat was) bouncin' through the woods around Grand Lake CO when I was a kid, had a honda trail/street 90 when I was 16, a kawasaki 400 triple at 24, then a long blank space until age 55. In May 07 I decided to get a 250 Yam to ride around town and figured I be able to talk wifey into going for a ride someday. After a week or so she gave in and we went for a 3 mile ride. When we pulled back into the garage we got off the 250 and she looked at the bike, looked at me and looked back at the bike and to my utter amazment said "You're gonna have to get a different bike cause I'm riding this one". I never in my widest dreams pictured my wife riding any kind of bike ever. So I went and bought the 650 Vstar and we rode the whole summer away. Over that 1st winter I kept catching her out in the garage sitting on the 650 and you guessed it she finally says "you're gonna have to get a different bike, cause I'm gonna start riding this one". I traded the 250 in on the 1300 and there you go. 3 new bikes in less than 1 year. She's ready to move up, but, maybe next summer. My wife rides a 650 Vstar, and I ride a 1300 Vstar. We live 28 miles from Utah in western Colorado. We have 3 grown kids, and 6 soon to be 7 grandkids, OH 7 grand kids now (3-6). Winter sucks. Let's ride, Be safe.
