Just ride

I am a father of 5 a grandfather of 4 (so far) married to my high school sweetheart for life.  I have worked in the IT field for 30 years, hell back then it wasn't even called IT! LOL!  I get paid to think and type all day, so I love to go home and get greasy!  I love to work on my own ride and even work on my own cars as well, though I prefer the bike!  My bike is a daily commuter when weather permits, but I won't ride in inclement weather.  Not because of the cold or the wet, but on any given day in San Diego county we will have well over 100 accidents on a day when it rains!  As some of you are aware, it hurts when you get hit on a bike....it hurts real bad!  I believe that riding is inherently a higer risk activity than driving, so to minimize my risk, I chose not to ride in the rain so I don't get whacked by some cager that can't drive!  The weekday commute is a grind, no matter what you drive/ride, but there are days that the weather is so nice and I just need to clear my head and it might take me a couple hours to get home as I'll go through the mountains.  Nothing like draining a tank to clear the old head!  I love to ride on the weekends and even do most of my errands on my bike.  I really look forward to that once a month ride with my STAR Chapter though.  And on most Saturdays during the summer months you'll find me in the saddle many miles from home!  We have a couple of acres up by the Grand Canyon just off Rte 66 that we will someday be retiring to.  I really look forward to that time in our lives.  For one thing I have always wanted to ride Rte 66 from end to end.  Even though in places it is no longer there and you have to jump on the super-slab, it's still something I would love to do.  By living up there, that will really give me the opportunity to do just that.  I guess I'm pretty much a Yamaha fan, though I have no dislike for any bike.  I've just always had good luck with Yammis.  I love my VStar 1100 as there is so much available for this bike I can really get creative and the bike is really pretty easy to work on.  In my mind I feel like I'm still in my 20s, then of course the old bod brings me back to reality! LOL!

Ride safe all

Mike
