  • This just looks like a bad idea to me. I reckon a motorbike tyre is engineered for a bike like a car tyre is engineered for a car. Gonna continue to defer to the experts and use the tyre made for my vehicle.

  • Since tires are constructed for specific duties a car tire is not designed or engineered to be used as a motorcycle tire. Car tires are designed to hold the road when the weight is applied directly downward.  Therefore the tread pattern is such that the contact patch designed does not include the sidewall. Since motorcycle tires work more on an axis they are designed with the contact patch on the bottom and sides to have consistant contact with the road. ONce you get over on a car tire your not only loosing that contact tread you are also appling force to a part of the tire where it was not designed to handle.  That being said, tires are basically over engineered to probably withstand those pressures (for a while).  I would open the wallet get a good pair of Metzlers or other good motorcycle tire and ride on without the nagging thought of a failure.

  • Awesome demo "simmbad". I dont know about you but the car tire handling characturistics looked a little too freaky for my taste. It just looked like a wet road and a hard turn would kick your tail out pretty quickly.

  • ar tires are for cars, truck tires for trucks, motorcycle tires are for motorcycles, and trailer tires are for trailers.  All of the above mentioned tires are made differently for each application.  But to each his own.  I would much rather be safe than sorry.  Especially with my life in my own hands.

  • That doesn't look safe. A little moisture & I think it'll come out from under you. That tread is design for full road contact which u lose on turns. The traction is in the center of the tire forcing water out the sides.

  • Hard to say if a car tire is a good idea or not.  it seams to work, but i wouldnt trust it in a high lean turn at speed.  There were some high lean turns in this video, but not at 60 mph like you would be doing on a country road.  Pluse rain would have a bif effect as well on traction while turning.  There are reasons why a bike tire is a bike tire and a car tire is a car tire.  However i am glad someone tried it out to see if it was possible.

  • I don't know... still looks a little "lean" deep in the corners! The motorcycle tire is meant to not have much tread on the ground in the straight up position but puts more rubber to the road in the corners.  I like that idea myself! The care tire still looks opposite!
