The office phone rings, one of the employees picks up and says: "What kind of an idiot dares to phone me in the middle of my lunch break!?!"
The caller shouts back: "Do you have any idea whom you are talking to...? I am the CEO of this company!"
The employee replies: "Do you have any idea whom YOU are talking to?"
Perplexed, the CEO mumbles: "NO!!"
The employee heaves a sigh of relief and says: "Thank goodness for that!!" and hangs up.
I had an all day CEO meeting and rode up Mt. Diablo prior to the meeting (see the photo I uploaded earlier).
I rode on my new Aprilia and showed the guys the bike after the meeting was over. I noticed that parts of the right side of the bike was scratched up. F***, someone ran into my bike and dropped it over on it's right side and then put it back up.
Then I saw the note on the seat: "didn't see your bike, call me if something is wrong, Cindy". I called the phone number to see what the story was. The woman's husband answered and was quick to point out that I parked in an "illegal" spot and it's like hitting someone on the freeway that drives against the traffic ...."
Don't people know that motorcycles are more than just a piece of metal. A motorcycle is your baby. This one was just 2 weeks old with 250 miles on it. It even has the factory warning label on the gas tank. What I wanted to hear in a situation like that is "I'm so sorry, I'll take care of it, we'll get your baby back to new again, sorry for the trouble ..."
Anyway, he did call later and told me to get two estimate from two reputable companies ...
After a brief explanation of motorcycle dealerships he agreed to get a repair quote from my local Aprilia dealer and either his insurance or himself will take care of it.
I'm not upset at all, I just think the story is a little comical and shows how little "regular" people know about motorcycles and bikers. I'm happy that the woman left a note and I trust that they will take care of the repairs.
