For those of you who are interested in the final result of the oil filter relocation kit install, here's some pictures of my bike with it installed.
You can see the chrome filter cover just peeping over the exhaust pipe there. I was a bit worried that all that chrome might look out of place on my black bike, but I think it looks really nice down there.
One thing I was worried about was people said that the area which was covered by the vanity plate with the YAMAHA logo would look bad because it was under the plate. A little bit of Mr Sheen (Aussie furniture polish) and it came up like there was never anything there
You can see the hoses in the picture (right). I was initially worried that they would not fit because when I held it against the bike I could not see how they would. I bought the normal length hoses that came with the kit, but they fit perfectly as you can see.
The oil filter itself is tucked up under the front. I'll have to see how it goes with crap flicking up from the road onto the chrome I guess.
All in all, I'm very happy with the results. Now I have to wait to put another 5,000 kms on her so I can do the next oil change myself!

I think it looks really good - it's not really obvious though. In any case, here's to simpler oil changes!

OK, I've been searching and searching for a rear fender rack for my 07 750 Shadow Aero. Here's the problem. I put a Mustang seat on the bike this fall and I LOVE IT !! BUT.........I can't seem to find a rear fender rack that is compatable with the Mustang seat. Every rack I've found is made to fit with the stock seat. There are some comments/reviews in the parts sections that tell you how to modify the racks to fit, or how to just "jam it under the seat", but I'd really rather have one that is made to fit. Less hassle, less chance of me wrecking it, when I do the install. I really don't want to get into drilling new holes in the fender to install a rack.
Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas or feedback ?
I just wanted to thank all of my CC friends who posted kind words of encouragement, tips, and insight into my mechanical disability in installing a sissy bar all by myself!
I'm posting a new picture of my bike in its current state...it changes all the time (I'm still finding "my" look).
It took all of 30 minutes today - something I couldn't do in two hours on Sunday!
Ya'll are the best!

Spent some time this morning with the two of the most important guy's in my life, my father and grandfather. I just wanted to let them know how much I love them & how proud I am for their service to their country. My grandfather was a "doughboy" in WW1 & my father was in the USAF in the Korean conflict. Both are very proud of the time they gave for their country and fly the "Red, White, & Blue" with pride on Veterans Day. While talking to them, I noticed many of their neighbors also fly "Old Glory" with pride, because of the service they gave defend this great nation. I was humbled; by seeing so many veterans gathered together. Men & woman who had defended this land in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, WWII, WWI, The Spanish American War, & the Civil War. You’re thinking by now "Where the heck is he at?" Well, I'm at my Dad & Grand-dads gravesites. I never met my Granddad, he passed before I was born, and I lost my Dad in 1999. I grew up hearing of the stories my granddad told Dad about fighting the "Hun" in the "Great War"! My Dad didn't talk much about service time in Korea, but as I got older, seeing programs about the Korean War, I knew it wasn't a pleasant experience. I never said thanks to my Dad till it was to late.
The point of this story is: Weather it's a relative, friend, or co-worker, don't wait to show a "Vet" how proud you are of their service, to their country. Till they are gone. Let them know today!" So with that said thanks to all of you in the community who has served. I could name many of you by name, but I would be still posting this on the 12th. By the time I am done..."A BIG THANKS" for your service guy's & gal’s! You’re a "COOOL Group"!
Chris/aka Madcow
P.S. Want to especially thank a guy who spent more time under the water than above during his "stint" in the Navy. You always make me laugh when I feeling down! I won't embarrass him by giving his name, since most of you know whom I'm talking about...He's had it rough lately but he's still there for the rest of us....

Fun Stuff
I had a blast this weekend. I did my first ride with over 100+ bikers. Probably closser to 200. We had our Toy Run and I got to be in it. What an experience. First my friends and I met up probably about 10 of us, then we all went to the Toy run. There were bikes every where. All the groups of bikers met up and talked for a while. The group kept getting larger and larger. All kinds of people and groups some independent riders fell in and then when it was time we all rolled together with a police escourt through town to the drop off point. It was a hudge group by this time and we took both sides of the street for as far as I could see. Bikes of all types and people of all kinds also. we all talked and hung out then went for free chilli. Best time I have had yet on the bike. This is what bikers are all about getting together and sharing the ride. The stories and friendships made are great. Just loving it.....
I just bought a sissy bar for my bike and received it a couple of weeks ago. No problem, I thought to myself, I'll have this done in no time.
Well, the rains came and my bike was filthy, so the next nice weekend I'll detail my bike and put on my sissy bar.
I spent four hours today, trying to clean, polish, wax and install...the clean, polish and wax went fine. The sissy bar is still in the box.
I tried...I really did! My fingers are sore from messing with those stupid bolts. Finally got the bracket on the right side - man, I'm moving now (after an hour!).
The left side was a complete disaster. After an hour, one bolt won't seat right no matter what I do. I just took off the successfully installed bracket, tightened down the bolts on the other side the best I could (with one still sticking out about 1/4"), tested to make sure I hadn't screwed anything else up and put my bike up,
I did remove my curved luggage rack and put my 2-up seat back on.
It just frustrates me that I try so hard to be self-sufficient but I failed so miserably.
So I admit it...I couldn't do it TODAY!
Maybe next weekend...
