Nice ride
I was browsing CruiserCustomizing.com a few days ago, with the hope of finding the right gift for a friend and rider in Reno that turned my trip to Street Vibrations into great vacation for my whole family -including the two basset hounds! I think I found the appropriate gift in the Show Chrome Accessories (Big Bike Parts) TireGard Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The staff pick made this decision even easier. Although this is relatively expensive accessory/gift on my budget at about $150, this wireless pressure and temperature monitoring system will stay on both my wish list and gift list this holiday season.
While shopping for the tire pressure monitoring system I noticed the Scala-rider bluetooth motorcycle headset by Cardo Systems and decided to give the product a try, and I'm very glad that I did. Proximity and great service from CruiserCustomizing.com put the product in my hands in two days. Quick and easy installation allowed me to try the headset on my commute on Friday. My wife indulged me with several voice activated incoming and outgoing calls while the headset was paired with my Sony Ericsson phone with the voice recognition (VR) feature. The headset work exceptionally well at the low speeds (< 35 mph) on my commute. I tried the wired MP3 player connection during my trip home. It’s great that the headset will automatically mute the MP3 player for incoming and outgoing calls.
Because fall has finally arrived in Sacramento and cold isn’t far away, here is a quote on the subject of “cold” from Mark Twain.
"Cold! If the thermometer had been an inch longer we'd all have frozen to death!"
- Read, Mark Twain and I, 1940, p. 44
I spend more time working on my PC and home network than any reasonable human could stand, far more time than I do riding or customizing my motorcyle. In fact, I'm begining to suspect my computer crashed just a few minutes ago to stop me from posting my rant on the &^%$ device on the blog. So here's my second attempt at my second post...
Here's an example of one of the problems I've been experiencing. For the past few days, whenever, I try to close an open Windows IE explorer window or tab, the *&^%$ XP OS: sends me an error message, seeks permission to contact the mother ship, then phones home, closes the window (which is a good thing, since it's what I was trying to do when I clicked on the x in the first place), and finally, and here's the kicker, it reopens the window I was trying to close. Basically I can't close a IE window or tab once it has been opened:(
This eveing I'm doing the usual annoying dance with my computer: opening IE windows, trying to close IE windows, ... when I started thinking; If my computer had a Honda nameplate on it, I'm pretty darn sure that I would be spending a lot less time fixing the device, and more time enjoying it.
Finally, thanks to all of you who took the time to read my first effort at a blog post about my ride to Street Vibrations, and especially thank those those of you who took the time to offer such wonderful comments.
Rode to Reno via Lake Tahoe S. Shore on Friday with two friends for Street Vibrations rally. The weather was great and HOT. The return trip ride over Mt. Rose added a nice ride south along the NV side of Lake Tahoe. I saw thousands of great people in Reno and Carson City, had some fun and unique experiences, and made a least a dozen new friends that I looking forward to seeing again soon.
