finally gonna get to ride for the first time in 2 weeks tomorow. weather hasn't been too bad here but work has got in the way and haven't had a chance to ride, had a bad case of withdrawal for sure lol. there is a local organization that collects donations all year and uses the money to buy turkeys and all the fixings for thanksgiving dinners and they have us bikers ride along to help deliver the food to needy families in the area. rode in it last year and had a blast, after all the food is delivered they have all of us bikers meet somewhere and feed us a big dinner for riding and helping out. the temp is supposed to be high of 65 with sunshine and for colorado in november that is a treat . so to everyone here at ccc have a great thanksgiving and hope ya'll get the chance to put some miles on soon.
keep the shiny side up and the rubber down !!!!!!!!
My first bike. I look to be about 13-14 here(scanned it in, sorry it's a little blurry). I got the ole' Tote-goat at about 11-12. It only had 1 speed but if you could keep it upright it would go up a tree. We kept it up at our cabin in Grand Lake Colorado. Used to ride it over small fallen trees, rocks, etc. through the forest. Went over a rock once (full throttle of course) and the steel foot peg that once had a rubber footrest on it went through my lower ankle both sides right in front of my achilles tendon. 40+ years later you can very faintly see the scar. I owe my current sense of motorcycle balance to the years I spent bouncing through the wood on my Tote-goat.
ok i need some advice and opinions from ya'll. i am planning a trip in the spring with my wife and 2 kids on motorcycles. we are planning to ride from here in colorado up to mount rushmore , the badlands and to sturgis and back home. i have an opportunity to purchase a small trailer from a friend for well lets just say any less and i would be stealing it lol. anyway my question is does a trailer take away from the riding experience? i have never pulled a trailer behind a motorcycle before. i would like input from anyone who has as to the pro's and cons and any advice i could get. we will be taking 3 of our 4 motorcycles, i with my wife on the back of mine and the kids on their own. should i just pack our stuff on in a trailer or should we just pack it on our bikes? we plan to stay in tents every other nite to and motels the other nites. plus i would like any info from any of ya'll that live up in that area or have traveled up there as to camp grounds and must see places or roads that are a must ride.
thanks in advance,
andy, a.k.a. cougar
