    Rode up to Asheville, NC today and attended the Wings Over the Smokies bike rally.  I have never seen so many Goldwings in one place, nor in such variety.  It was sort of amazing.  Many were pulling custom trailers.  There were a lot of vendors for GW specific gear and several general bike vendors.  Later in the day I rode up through Hickery Nut Gap, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure before heading home.  Got home just in time.  The sky opened up with a cloud burst.  Now there are flash flood warnings for the area.

    I had a honda aero 750 for 3 seasons and about 12,000  miles. I started to look into upgrades in bikes (I had already done a lot of customization... windshield, hard bags, chrome, etc.). I looked at all types of crusiers & touring bikes.  I was looking in the 1200cc to 1800cc range. Came down to a few considerations:

    1. what kind of riding do i do? Mosting  - 200-400 mile day trips every other weekend. Like to sit in a relaxed position, carry revelan

    After another of one of my many roadtrips I found myself thinking about getting a true touring bike. The problem is I am fond of the Ole Sabre. I have made additions to the Sabre by adding larger bags and windshield, etc. in an effort to make a make-shift touring bike and I hate to say it, the Sabre is still not a touring bike.

    This weekend I stopped by a couple dealerships and the Goldwings, Statoliners, and the Visions sure look nice but the physical size is a bit intimidating.

    Yep, the engine size made a difference for me when I bought the Vulcan 1500.  But, the style of the bike and the way it looked was one of 'THE' biggest decision makers.  Needed something for 2-up and luggage.  Not into the Goldwings, although they are a great tourer, but this Vulcan afforded me the power I needed and the heft for 2-up!  Had I known a year later that the wife would want her own bike, I may have chosen differently.  Not sure, all I know is that I am happy with this

    Tim, buy one! I love mine. Didn't want the reverse gear  (only available for the Japanese Domestic Market) CD player or fairing that the Goldwings have. Handles really nice. Plenty of go for me. Tows the trailer well. Wife (oooops- dosn't matter to you being single! lol) is comfortable. ... ... Did I tell? Just buy one!

    Hello everyone:

    I have a Goldwing 1500 Aspencade, that I purchased 2nd hand, and Im lovin' it thusfar.

    Goldwings, have a "cornering light" thats supposed to light up the corner you're about to turn onto. They're mounted in the lower part of the front fairing. The bike that I bought, came with the regular cornering lights taken out, and a pair of "Flashers" installed instead. (They flash alternatly, 3x's left, 3x's right etc...)
