    I couldn't tell you what kind of pipes are on my Shadow 600. They're just some cheapos that were on it when I bought it. It was loud but I pulled the baffles out anyway lol. It is LOUD. I've had people ask me if it's a Harley, even though it says "Shadow" right on the tank, and even had a bike mechanic say it sounds better than the Harleys in town.     Mine !!!! I hope not !!!  She has a sound all her own ,a 1600 Vulcan Classic with Vance and Hines straights....loud ? To some....like an H D ?  To some {wich I believe are not very knowledgeable about bikes} !! To me it's my Kawi with my own sound not someone elses !

    well yes if you but aftermarket pipes on a metric it will sound close to a harley. the harley was the first so that is what we compare it to.no it is not a harley but live the sound. i put hard crome 2.75 big straights on my v-star 1100 classis and love the sound. no its not a harley but i love it. and that is all the counts.

    Seems like thats all I ever hear too,does it sounds like  Harley? No,it sounds like a Honda with a modified exhaust,slipons , pipes etc etc..my neighbor who rides a dyna used to kid me about how much my bike sounded more Harley than a HarLy !!... He was jealous till he bought a new exhaust system last year,now the whole neighborhood knows who has the Harly !! =:/..

    I agree with Rob, Harleys sound like Harleys, if the have cobra slash cuts then they sound like a Harley with Cobra slash cuts.  If Girls, Vstar 650 is stock that  is what it sounds like, if it has Cobra slash cuts then it sounds like a Vstar650 with slash cuts. In summary, Bloody LOUD.

    Aw gee Rob. I was just gonna order 3 sets of HD pipes so I could make up a set of 6/6 pipes for my Valk! lol Put new exhaust tips on her last week only for the looks. The boss reckoned it sounds different, I didn't. Took it for a couple of decent rides (One to get bread, - 50meters; the other to get a latte! 51 meters lol just kidding) Does sound a bit deeper.     Only a Harley sounds like a Harley. Everything else is an imitation. Metrics can sound good but they still don't sound like a Harley. And why would you want them to. They should have a sweet sound all their own. And they should wake the neighbours at 5.30am as my Harley does every morning. LOL

    So I changed out my Vulcan 900's OEM exhaust for a set of Cobra Speedster Shorts.  As I have recounted in my blog - "Ouch, that's loud!" - those bad boyz border on sounding obnoxious.  So I have this colleague at work who is always asking whether my bike sounds like a Harley?  At that point I have to explain AGAIN that what he's hearing is a Harley with a modified exhaust.  OK, so now I've modified my exhaust and I will tell him to come out and listen to my bike and explain to him tha
