Tomorrow is our regular Friday 13th ThunderRun to Prt Dover. Every Fruday 13th motorcyclists of every age, riding style, and bike make descend on Port Dover for a day of fun, bike oggling and buying must have doo dads and duds. Our Hog chapter is riding down as a group. The town shuts down all car traffic there are so many bikes there. I hear the police will be checking exhaust sound levels so I may need to put a sock in Boomer's Rineharts.
It is about a 2 hour ride from here and I will blog on our run sometime on Saturday and post pictures.

California Vehicle Code 21655.5. (b) states, "The Department of Transportation and local authorities, with respect to highways under their respective jurisdictions, shall place and maintain, or cause to be placed and maintained, signs and other official traffic control devices to designate the exclusive or preferential lanes, to advise motorists of the applicable vehicle occupancy levels, and, except where ramp metering and bypass lanes are regulated with the activation of traffic signals, to advise motorists of the hours of high-occupancy vehicle usage. No person shall drive a vehicle upon those lanes except in conformity with the instructions imparted by the official traffic control devices. A motorcycle may be operated upon those exclusive or preferential use lanes unless specifically prohibited by a traffic control device."
In laymen terms, motorcycle can use carpool lanes.
Keep it upright and ride it like you mean it!
THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!!
When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears
with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning
Uphill... barefoot...
BOTH ways
Yadda, yadda, yadda
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay
a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!
But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of
thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.
You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my
childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!
I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, We had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write
somebody a letter, with a pen!
Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!
Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! No where was safe!
There were no MP3' s or Napsters! You wanted to
steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!
Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!
There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished and the tape would come undone. cause that's how we rolled dig?
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you
were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!
And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either!
When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you
just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!
We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video
games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever!
And you could never win. The game just kept getting
harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!
You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!
There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!
And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that!
That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids
today have got it too easy.
You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted
five minutes back in 1980 or before!
and just for Phil,
we had NO FM or Digital Radio only AM radio. No Digital TV, NO Plasma TV, NO 60" Wide Screen TV's and NO 5:1 Surround Sound Entertainment Systems either only Stereos lol
Regards,
The over 30 Crowd
Just started riding again after about 17 years of not. I'm loving this, but finding that
in the past, the xhusband took care of all things mechanical and now it's up to me. Having
to learn to check this and that, guess I need a tire gauge, need to figure out how to
check fluid levels, etc. Can't be all that difficult I'm sure. But I am happy!! Nothing
compare to riding a motorcycle, cept maybe a horse. Wish me well while I relearn!

Trails Program Available
Taking a weekend to get your bike ready for the rest of the year, and by following a few simple steps after bringing your bike out of hibernation, will ensure many trouble-free miles on all those sunny days coming your way.
Battery
You should have your battery charging for at least 24 hours before trying to start your bike after a long winter's nap. Make sure all terminals and ground wires are cleaned. If the case is bulging, replace your battery.
Fluids
Check the levels of your engine oil and all other fluids including fuel and brakes. Replace or refill those that need it. If your bike didn't get an oil and filter change prior to winterizing or in the last six months, do so before starting up the bike.
Tires
Start by inflating to tire's specifications on the sidewall or in the owner's manual. Look for weather cracking and test tread depth in several places around the tire. If your tires are cracked or worn, replace before riding.
Wheels
Check wheels for rust, corrosion or hairline cracks that may have compromised the wheel's integrity. Adjust loose spokes and straighten untrue wheels if needed.
Lights
Check for any cracking or condensation in the lenses. Test your headlamp, signals and tail and brake lights to ensure they are in good working order. This also may be a good time to upgrade to brighter HID and LED lighting.
Controls
Make sure the throttle twists freely and snaps back in the off position. Check all cables and hoses for damage or cracking. Also check all metal fittings for rust or corrosion.
Brakes
Inspect your brake pads and replace them if they are worn. Check rotors for rust and debris. Also make sure all rotor bolts are tight.
Nuts & Bolts
Break out that new torque wrench that you got for Christmas and make sure all miscellaneous fasteners on the bike are tightened to the manufacturer's specifications.
Supplies
Examine your tool kit to make sure you have all the items necessary to help you in the event of a breakdown. If you do not have a good tool kit, buy one.
Legal
Review your insurance policy and vehicle registration to make sure you are up to date and fully covered.
My first Bike, when I was 16 ! The XS400 featured a four-stroke, air-cooled, overhead-cam engine that is commonly called a parallel twin While the twin cylinders are indeed parallel, the two pistons are offset 180 degrees of crankshaft rotation -- this arrangement greatly reduces linear vibration at the cost of some axial vibration. The 392 cc (23.9 cu in) engine produced 36 bhp (27 kW) @ 8100 rpm. The XS400 was equipped with a 6-speed transmission, chain drive, tachometer, self-canceling turn signals, both electric and kick starters, adjustable rear shock absorbers, center stand, and an automatic fuel petcock. Early and economy models came with spoked wheels and drum brakes, while later and upgraded models received cast alloy wheels and hydraulic disc brakes. Later models also upgraded the early mechanical points ignition system to a modern solid state electronic system. As is customary, the number in the model name indicates the engine displacement. Aside from displacement, the 250CC, 360CC, and 400CC variants were mostly identical except for some economy-minded XS250s and XS360s which omitted the electric starter and self-canceling turn signals. The upgraded Special and Heritage trim levels included styling changes such as stepped seats, megaphone-style exhaust pipes, and swept-back handlebars. Weight is approximately 182 kg (400 lb) (including oil, gas, etc.), and the fuel capacity is 17 L (4.5 US gal).
