Well I guess its about that time, time to drop the oil out of Ole Yella and change it for winter, don"t want any moisture that may have gathered over the season in there to freeze this winter.Top her off with gas and put her to bed for the winter, kinda like hibernation I guess.Man this really bites,I hate having to put her away,I just wanna RIDE A LITTLE MORE.
if i see a bike stoped i'll pull of to help .as i'am sure we all do . but i do it for cars and trucks too . i pull in front of them to keep my bike from being hit .but the best part is the look on they faces now you all know i'have a small bike but to them hey it a biker stop to kick my butt . i pull my helmet off and ask can i help you . and they smile and say sure . sometime i have to use my tools or just chang a flat for a lady or some one up in years that needs some help . but after i stop to help it funny how many cars and trucks stop to see if there ok . the drive tells them no we are ok he is got it fixted for me some offer money but i never take it i figer some day i be there and need help . some times i ask being hrer long yes .i never would think a biker would stop . i just say hey i drive a car too . but we have a lot of help stop now they just look at be puzzed on till the cars and truck stop to see if the big bad crilped bike is robbing him or her . but i dont care just one time did a tropper stop he ask you need and thing if so call this no# for road help but i see you got it fixed i did have one ask me could i buy you beakfest up ahead i said ok he was happy to get help and found at odd a biker of all to stop after all the cars passed him by then they all were stoping to see if he was ok when they show a biker stop with him life is odd and you may find help in some one you never would think of
This is a very sweet custom motorcycle, yes? Actually, no. Some young ... scarred knuckled ... greasy fingered ... bike loving gentleman never worked on this bike ... or sweated out getting the exhausts tuned or getting the handle bars at "just the right angle" or anything. It came off an assembly line. Granted, it came off a high priced assembly line, but no true lover of cycles ever sweated blood and tears over this machine. A well to do man put in an order for it ... told the company what kind of motor he wanted, what kind of tires he wanted, what kind of wheels he wanted, what he wanted as far as a color scheme for a paint job and the whole ball of wax. Once the order was all written up, this sweet machine came off on an assembly line. "Custom made" without the "Custom".
Somehow, this all seems like cheating to me. Because some yo-yo has the big bucks, he can put in an order, ("do you want pies and fries with that sir?"), and "WHAM! BAM! PRESTO!" ... he's made into an instant "biker". He hauls this beautiful machine to the rally, (Panama City's "Thunder Beach" in this case), unloads it, and rides it "triumphantly into town" from his five star hotel room. After a weekend of bedding beautiful women and getting drunk at high priced bars, he rides it triumphantly back to the trailer, hauls it back home, and there it will sit in an air conditioned garage for the next bike rally six or seven month from now. The motor will never be fired up. It will never be loved. It's just a prized possession.
How do I know all this? Because I asked the owner when I stopped at a gas station to fill my tank and quench my parched throat from the long ride over.
Pathetic!
Give me my muchly used and lovingly customized Magna with 24,163.0 miles on it ANYDAY compared to this shining sparkling bike with barely 500 miles on it. I did ALL the work on my Magna and my Intruder myself ... every barfed knuckle, every scraped and cut finger, every tear of frustration on every rusted bolt was earned and appreciated. My bikes may not look as nice as this one ... but they are certainly loved more!
Mmmmmmm........I'm thinking (yes that's the funny noise u can hear) that I may b the youngest female Australian rider on this site, where r all the Australian girls/women??? I've joined groups etc, but haven't been contacted by many females at all and certainly none from Australia as yet. U guys r great don't get me wrong, I really enjoy talking 2, just wondering where the female riders r :) Come out, come out where ever u r, I don't bite unless provoked :)
look as we all no to get decent gear for our cruisers out here in oz we have to buy it in from the states, my wife is into jewellary design and gets a lot of stuff from all over the place, well she does this group buy thing where orders are taken and then a bulk order is made which may be expensive but would ultimatly reduce postage which can be rediculous. just wanted to put it out there an see what others in oz thought...len
DAY 5 : TIME TO START THE EXHAUST. TREAT WITH RUST CONVERTER EVEN MORESO, THESE ARE REALLY BAD. IT TAKES ME JUST ABOUT 4 HOURS TO GET THEM TO A GOOD CONDITION FOR POLISHING. WHILE POLISHING BY HAND, I SPIT ON THEM, I DON'T KNOW IF THIS HELPS, BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF POLISHES, THEY'RE LOOKING OK. MUST BE THE BOURBON. OK, NOW THE SWING ARM. THE CONDITION IS NOT TO BAD, ONLY SLIGHT TREATMENT REQUIRED TO BRING IT UP. LIGHT SAND, RECOAT GLOSS BLACK, I CHEAT A LITTLE, AND APPLY CHROME TAPE AT VERY SLIGHTLY TACKY, BE CAREFUL IF YOU TRY THIS, IF YOU LAY THE TAPE ONLY MARGINALLY OFF LINE, AND TRY TO LIFT AND RE STICK, YOU MAY LIFT THE PAINT OFF AS WELL. BUT WHEW, IT WORKS FOR ME. LAY CLEAR LAQUER OVER. REPAT FOR DRIVE SHAFT SIDE. THATS ANOTHER 3 HOURS. SIDE COVERS NEXT. LIGHTLY SAND, THIN COAT SILVER, ALLOW TO DRY (BOTH). FINISH POLISHING AIR CLEANER COVERS WHILE WAITING. MIX SOME YELLOW TO MATCH THE TANK, MASK SIDE COVERS AND PAINT. THIS IS ALL QUICK DRY, SO ONLY 2 HOURS TO WAIT. SAME FOR MAROON (BURGUNDY IN AMERICA). HIGHLIGHT WITH CHROME TAPE & CLEAR COAT OVER. LAST 2 HOURS FOR POLISHING FINAL DRIVE CASE.
DAY 6 : COAT SPRINGS, TAIL LIGHT AND INDICATOR MOUNT WITH TREATMENT NOT TO BAD ALL OF THIS, EASY POLISH, OK. MEASURE AND CUT DAMAGED EXHAUST, TOP ONE BENT AND DENTED AT THE TAPER. CUT 45 DEGREES AT EQUAL LENGTHS. REWELD TOP INNER BAFFLE. CLEAN AND PAINT RADIATOR AND RADIATOR GAURD (MESH). START PARTS REPLACEMENT ON BIKE.
I am a Black American Woman, 43 yrs old, I am kind, patient, smart, have a great sense of humor. Unfortunately, I am also a paradoxical anomaly. Why? Because I ski, swim, make awesome baked ziti, love classic rock and pop music, old country, and of course 70’s disco. Apparently I missed the memo that says black girls aren’t supposed to swim, ski, ride motorcycles, or date white guys.
LMAO I also enjoy: museums, antiqueing, going down the shore, walking, shopping, plus the usual stuff that everyone likes such as; movies, theater, dining out etc. I root for the NY Giants and the NY Mets.
I am currently disabled due to Meniere's Disease and I am the sole caregiver to my 81 year old father who has Parkinson's Disease, and my 79 year old mom who is in the early stages of dementia. The worst part of being a live-in caregiver for my parents is that my mom is so afraid of my having another nervous breakdown, she can be a bit clingy. My mom can't tell me being depressed from me being lazy. Sometimes I just want to lie on the sofa, eat junk food, and watch tv in my jammies. That doesn't mean I'm depressed, I just don't have anything better to do. There are times when being lazy actually makes me happy. :)
I should probably clarify that Tex (the guy on the blue Honda Shadow) and I are friends, but no longer dating. Yes, I do have his permission to use those pictures. I told him about the site and as soon as he gets his laptop fixed he'll probably become a member here as well.
I blog on Google too, so I may just add some of those blogs here, if y'all don't mind

Tuesday May 19, 2009, a day that shall live in infamy. My beau Tex, purchased a 1994 Honda Shadow VLX 600. He had been mentioning to me for months about needing to get another motorcycle. I, never having been into the biker scene said, "no one needs a motorcycle."

I had to apologize to him the next day for not showing the proper amount of enthusiasm when he called. Though to be fair it was 1:30 AM and I had been asleep for 2 hours already. Wednesday night I surprised him by meeting him outside the local Target, and he was still smiling. He gave me a ride around the parking lot and I have to say I liked it. I'm not sure what I was expecting; but it was a pleasurable experience that reminded me a little bit of the freedom I feel when skiing, added bonus: being close to my man. So there we sat, in the Waffle House, grinning at each other like fools because we had fallen in love with a motorcycle. I can honestly say I felt blissful even the next day, he could hear it in my voice on the phone twelve hours later.
Just what is it about motorcycles that produces that blissed out feeling?
FWIW: Never tell your beau that his dimples make him look too cute to be a bad a## biker dude. LOL
I'm trying hard to learn the in's and out's of this video editing software I own, so I'm uploading a "first attempt". The road I'm traveling in the video is US 90 between Quincy Fl and Tallahassee Fl ... a nice ten mile stretch of divided country highway. Not too may curves, but fun and pleasant to ride on. I’ve also included some photos that were taken chronicling the custom paint I put on the Magna.
Enjoy!
I guess I may go ahead and jump onto the band wagon ... so here's my intro video. (I guess if an old fart like English can do it, I can puzzle it out as well.)
Enjoy!
(Hey! That doen't mean laugh until you fart! It just means enjoy the video! Sheeesh!)
Tomorrow is our regular Friday 13th ThunderRun to Prt Dover. Every Fruday 13th motorcyclists of every age, riding style, and bike make descend on Port Dover for a day of fun, bike oggling and buying must have doo dads and duds. Our Hog chapter is riding down as a group. The town shuts down all car traffic there are so many bikes there. I hear the police will be checking exhaust sound levels so I may need to put a sock in Boomer's Rineharts.
It is about a 2 hour ride from here and I will blog on our run sometime on Saturday and post pictures.
The Vulcan Riders Association has put together a NEW form of membership. Until now, you could only join the VRA through a current chapter or by starting a chapter.
Our NEW membership is called the Non-Chapter Membership, it is very similar to Nomad Chapters of MC's. The differences being: That the VRA is an association of Riding Clubs (RC). Membership is bought, not earned. You are not required to put on x-amount of miles and cover x-amount of states. To read more about this membership, please follow the link: http://vulcanriders.us/NonChapterMembers.aspx
