The patch on the lady's vest states "Wanted ... More Bikers in Heaven" It was taken in the local "Toys for Tots" Parade last year. Guess that says it all!
Every December, the Marines have a "Toys for Tots" parade here in Tallahassee that usually starts at the local HD store that proceeds around 30 miles or so to a local restaurant to benefit the unfortunate kids that the parents don't really have enough money to purchase decent toys for them. The "price" to participate in the parade is a new unwrapped toys that the local bikers contribute for the cause. I've participated in the last several years, and it's pretty much the highlight (for me anyway) of the riding season. This past year there were almost a thousand local bikers participating ... though an official count is always difficult to determine. This is the staging area at the HD dealership and in this photo it's not even half of all the riders that joined in. This year's parade is going to be held on December 13th, and bikers from all over North Florida, south Georgia and Alabama try to join up to make it a success. If anyone is interested in participating this year, just drop me a personal message and I'll give all the pertinent information. Cagers (cars) are also welcome.

I feel that riding a bike has improved my driving. In my opinion, bike riders, for the most part, make better drivers because of their increased attention to traffic patterns, what I call "idiot anticipation" and concentration on the road and surrounding elements. I WOULD say that no cell phone use while riding a bike is another safety advantage...until recently. A bulletbike rider was texting while cruising at about 45 mph!! My first reaction was "He knows better than that...I couldn't believe it!" I have had more near-miss situations with drivers on cell phones than anything else. This blows my better driver theory out the window. Just an anomoly? I've seen texting or message checking by bikers at intersections but never on the run. I would love to see a cell phone ban while operating motor vehicles but more especially after what I've been through while on my bikes. I was curious about what you have experienced in your different areas? I am in Texas!
A woman was helping her husband set up their new Laptop. When asked by the software programme for a password the husband enters the word penis. After a short interval, a message flashes onto the laptops screen.
"PASSWORD REJECTED NOT LONG ENOUGH"

Catch ya !.
Just got back from a 2200k run up the country, caught up with my heavily pregnant daughter and brother who i haven't seen for 2yrs. Had a blast, the trip up wasn't much fun went via the Newell Highway which runs adjacent the hay plain which is desert country, hot, dry, windy and fckin dusty not the ideal riding conditions but made it thru to other side...lol. Came across a bloke and his missus on a beamer cruiser who had had a truck pull out in front of them when they were heading in for fuel and he had put the bike down, he was exhausted, been riding for hrs only stopping for fuel, they were both ok thankfully, bike wore some gravel rash but was ok to continue. apart from that the rest of the trip up was uneventful. stayed at my bro's place 4 days, plenty of beers laughs, got the itch to get back on the road, rolled out of bed at 4.30am, Kerrie had cooked eggs and bacon in a pita bread roll, some sandwichs for lunch, shes an angel, left there at 6am, it was cold and the wind had been blowing all night, hesistated momentarialy about leaving but fired up the Magna, pulled on the wet gear and got moving, fueled up in Bathurst and headed for the open road. Stopped about an hr out and checked my ph, had a message from a good m8 from Mildura, he just got some wheels under his r's again, bought himself a HondaVFR 800, cya out there George, must get up an see him soon time for a beer i reckon. Anyway back on the road nothin to exciting came back thru Young down to Wagga Wagga to Culcairn then crossed over to Finlay, oh after coming across a gravel rd had to do some detouring to find the right rd. Back to my daughters place, 10hrs on the rd an yeah i had cple breaks, had lunch and stopped at a place on the side of the rd that was an old house an the bloke had the biggest array of diecast models i have ever seen for sale, apologized and told him i would stop in next trip when i bring the kids up in the car, couldn't fit much on the bike. stayed with my daughter and her fella again then cruized home, my wifes b/day so thought i better be home, the m.i.l. had come up, arrived home and darling wife wasn't home.....lol, just out doing some business shit. And thats about it i s'pose like i said nothing to exciting wish i was still out there thoroughly enjoyed bein on the road again as always. Oh by the way darling daughter had the baby, so i am a G'pa, a little boy Kade Micheal John, healthy a cple wks early but all is well, must get over and c them both soon.
I was sent a message earlier this week from Karmahappens and the message contained a quote from an unknown author (Canidian Man who worked for Carolton Cards) ... it has crossed my mind daily... and I want to share it with you all:
today i got the phone call i never wanted to get, my daughter called to say she had been hit while riding her motorcycle. thank god she was only bruised up and skinned up, she was wearing helmet and riding jacket and chaps and boots. her bike faired pretty good too but still is gonna be down for a few weeks while the parts come in to fix it. she had a person turn left in front of her, he never turned his signal on and witnesses said he accelerated as he came to the intersection, like he was trying to beat her. she skidded and ended up laying it down and her front tire hit the rear of his car, and he just kepted driving, never slowed down. right now im mad as hell and frustrated!!! why dont these car drivers see us on bikes??? i mean my daughter has a pink full face helmet with a pink mohawk on it and her riding jacket is bright pink, how in the world does somebody not see that??? i still cant understand that, i mean i was hit back in july by a fella turning left in front of me too and i wondered how he could miss seeing someone who is 275 pounds on a big motorcycle, hell im bigger than some cars lol. are car drivers just that stupid??? i am really starting to wonder. how do we get the message across to those idiots that they better start paying more attention to driving than talking on their cell phones or changing the radio station??? well i guess my ranting is over, and if your reading this i'll let ya get on with your day and i will say another thank you to the fella upstairs that it wasn't worse . keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down and watch out for them stupid idiots that dont see us.
For those interested, here is another take on the Blog about Guardian Bells.
The story goes like this…
RIDE BELLS are said to protect the Rider and the Motorcycle from notorious road Gremlins.
These mischievous Gremlins litter roads and highways with treacherous hazards such as oil puddles, potholes and
obstacles such as boards and scrap metal. The ringing of a Ride Bell is a perfect deterrent for fiendish spirits.
TWO BELL STYLES, EACH HANDLING the GREMLINS in a DIFFERENT WAY:
With all inverted cup or open bottom shaped bells, the fiends are caught up inside the bell shape and ejected to the
ground below. Vaporizing a Gremlin causes a pothole.
GREMLIN DESTRUCTION INSIDE the BELL: Potholes are proof of vaporized Gremlins!
The rounded style bells ring much more loudly than the cup style and
are much more efficient at calling in the Angels from greater distances. Important, because
Legend also has it that the ringing of a ride bell calls an Angel to protect the rider and bike from any harm,
evil spirit or otherwise - no new potholes for Bikers behind you.
GREMLIN DESTRUCTION by your GUARDIAN ANGEL: Lets your Angel do the Gremlin vaporizing!
Bells are mounted as low on the motorcycle as possible.
It is best if the bell is gifted to the rider, because it's power is doubled.
They have been given many titles over the years including Bike Bells, Biker Bells, Motorcycle Bells, Ride Bells,
Protection Bells, Talisman & Amulet Bells, Angel Bells, Gremlin Bells, Demon Bells ... and as mentioned above, Legend says that if you receive a bell as a gift it’s protection power is doubled.
I have had them on all my Bikes and Myth / Superstition or not, I for one swear by them {anyone wants to know the details just message me lol}.
Obviously I’m not the only one who has had a problem or two while out riding, as I have seen an increasing number on Bikes that I come across in my travels. Maybe you never have had that close call or unexpected bike trouble, if so you’re one of the lucky “few”, as for me I have a "Gifted" one on each of my Bikes and I also carry one with on my key Chain.. Actually managed to capture a picture of one of these little mongrels lol A6
