• Assembly Line Custom

    This is a very sweet custom motorcycle, yes?  Actually, no.  Some young ... scarred knuckled ... greasy fingered ... bike loving gentleman never worked on this bike ... or sweated out getting the exhausts tuned or getting the handle bars at "just the right angle" or anything.  It came off an assembly line.  Granted, it came off a high priced assembly line, but no true lover of cycles ever sweated blood and tears over this machine.  A well to do man put in an order for it ... told the company what kind of motor he wanted, what kind of tires he wanted, what kind of wheels he wanted, what he wanted as far as a color scheme for a paint job and the whole ball of wax.  Once the order was all written up, this sweet machine came off on an assembly line.  "Custom made" without the "Custom". 

    Somehow, this all seems like cheating to me.  Because some yo-yo has the big bucks, he can put in an order, ("do you want pies and fries with that sir?"), and "WHAM! BAM! PRESTO!" ... he's made into an instant "biker".  He hauls this beautiful machine to the rally, (Panama City's "Thunder Beach" in this case), unloads it, and rides it "triumphantly into town" from his five star hotel room.  After a weekend of bedding beautiful women and getting drunk at high priced bars, he rides it triumphantly back to the trailer, hauls it back home, and there it will sit in an air conditioned garage for the next bike rally six or seven month from now. The motor will never be fired up.  It will never be loved.  It's just a prized possession.

    How do I know all this?  Because I asked the owner when I stopped at a gas station to fill my tank and quench my parched throat from the long ride over.

    Pathetic!

    Give me my muchly used and lovingly customized Magna with 24,163.0 miles on it ANYDAY compared to this shining sparkling bike with barely 500 miles on it.  I did ALL the work on my Magna and my Intruder myself ... every barfed knuckle, every scraped and cut finger, every tear of frustration on every rusted bolt was earned and appreciated.  My bikes may not look as nice as this one ... but they are certainly loved more!

• Sweet Trike!

    Now THIS is my idea of a sweet trike!  Check out the huge rear wheels on this thing, the exposed HD (I think) motor, the rake of the front end, the radical fenders on all three wheels, the "springer style" fork on the front ... the custom paint job, ... just everything!  Someone has truly put his heart and soul into this trike, and it shows!  I would be proud to own her!

    This pathetic looking thing is some cager's idea of a "perfect trike" for a biker.  It's powered by a 2.3 Litre Ford motor plant with a 155 HP motor, comes equipped with a five speed automatic, 9.5 Gallon Fuel Tank, gets 40 MPG, has a heater and an AC, AM/FM Stereo system and even has CUP HOLDERS!  WOW!  Don't you want to spend your hard earned bucks on this "cool" looking trike?  I've seen it not once, but twice at the Panama City's Thunder Beach biker rally.  If you are truly interested in riding in something that looks like it could be designed by George Jetson, you can learn more at www.rtrikes.com

    The rally was in Leon, Guanajuato in central Mexico.  The city was overrun by more than 30,000 bikes that weekend. We were on our way to meet a few more friends that were in town that weekend to go on a quick trip to the state`s capital city.

    Thought it would be timely to do a {ever so slightly modified} Repost of Rob's original "Blog" relating to the ‘’The Inaugural CC River Run’’.  Now that it has been confirmed that it will be happening, along with the fact that we will be having a VIP in attendance, as well as a number of our Aussie Lady riders too
    

    "Dr. Phil and I, Robin001 (better known as Rob) have been thinking and talking. Now I know that you are probably thinking that could be dangerous but between us we have half a brain and what we think is a brilliant idea.

    We are calling it ‘’The Inaugural CC River Run’’. We are inviting all Aussie members of the CC Community to meet in the beautiful River Murray town of Mildura. We envisage this will take place in early April of next year.

    This will give us all an opportunity to meet, have a couple of meals and a brew or two together and talk about our mutual passions, motorbikes and the open road. We can check out each others bikes and enjoy a cruise around the Mildura area. Phil has a few ideas for a ride to various close destinations which include local wineries for the wine lovers out there. If we can entice our favorite American honorary Aussie, Clyde, out here we might even take him for a visit to the roo poo pill factory. What do you say Clyde.

     We would also like to extend a special invitation to Kyle (manybikes). This would be a great chance for CC to promote this great site here in Australia. What do you think Kyle? It would be another great trip to another great country on the company credit card mate. If you come out here mate, could you pack a bit of chrome for my Harley in your suitcase? Save me a bit on postage.

     Accommodation in the Mildura area is reasonably priced and Phil has already checked out a Motel with bar and BBQ facilities if we all wanted to stay at the same place.

     So are you interested?"

    I had a blast this weekend. I did my first ride with over 100+ bikers. Probably closser to 200. We had our Toy Run and I got to be in it. What an experience. First my friends and I met up probably about 10 of us, then we all went to the Toy run. There were bikes every where. All the groups of bikers met up and talked for a while. The group kept getting larger and larger. All kinds of people and groups some independent riders fell in and then when it was time we all rolled together with a police escourt through town to the drop off point. It was a hudge group by this time and we took both sides of the street for as far as I could see. Bikes of all types and people of all kinds also. we all talked and hung out then went for free chilli. Best time I have had yet on the bike. This is what bikers are all about getting together and sharing the ride. The stories and friendships made are great. Just loving it.....
