Here notice the grips (Kuryakyn) w/ stiletto end caps, the Chrome Neck cover, HellCat windshield (Memphis Shades) and the fold-up switchblade pegs (Kuryakyn). By the way, those switchblade pegs are unbelievable. They are perfect not only because of the price, but the are exceptionally well-made and strong. They make a vast improvement to your ride; comfortable and easy to install. Think about it: For that price, you get the feel of Floorboards with a super low price....I don't know about you, but I can't afford to pay $300-$400 for floorboards so these were perfect for me, not to mention the fact that you can fold them back to pegs when you need to.

This blog is more to help me remember everything I've done to the bike. CRS is a terrible disease. I bought my 1998 1100 Virago Special last summer. I drove 5 hours to get it. When I first saw it I was a little disappointed, it was dirty and had oil and dirt all over the engine and frame. They previous owner lived at the end of a mile long dirt driveway. The oil was from not tightening the oil filter cover completely after an oil change and from a missing gasket on the oil cap. The tires were cracked from dry rot from sitting. I was relieved that it started right up. I was expecting carb problems from sitting so long. I made him an offer and he accepted, after a new rear tire, I drove the bike home and cleaned it up right away. I took it over Beartooth Pass about a month later and it ran great. Growing up on a ranch as a kid, I thought it would be cool to add barb wire to the bike. As you'll be able to tell, the bike has a flames and barb wire theme. Must be the farm boy in me.
The first thing I added was a mustang seat. I had one on my previous bike, a Virago 750. I swapped seats on the two bikes. My 750 was a nice bike and I sold it for more then I bought it for after 3 years and 20,000 miles. I also added engine guards to the bike right away.
I really liked the chrome studs on the Mustang seat and thought the saddlebags, back rest and tank bib would look great with them. I think it adds a lot to the saddlebags. They were easy to put on. I also added chrome edging to the tank and fenders.
Here you can see the chrome studs on the tank bib. This winter I also added new Kuryakyn Flame Grips with the Stiletto End Caps. These grips are a little fatter then the stock grips and more comfortable to me. One other think I added that you can see in this picture is chrome barb wire trim on the mirrors.
Here's a shot of the Cobra pipes with the flame heat shields. If you look carefully you can see the barb wire pin stripes I added to the tank, front and rear fenders and the side panels. The barb wire pin striping looks great on the bike, much better then then original pin striping.
You can see the silver barb wire pin striping on the rear fender hear. I also added turn signal visors to both the front and back and to finish the bike off I added a chrome barb wire license plate cover. There's more little things to the bike I've added but haven't mentioned. If you've read this post this far, thanks for you time. You must be bored.
