    Kyle Bradshaw of Cruiser Customizing here talking about how you can stay dry in the hot summer rain as well as the cold winter rain.  In this tip, I will cover rain gear options for the body, the legs, the hands, and the feet. In addition I will talks about my personal evolution with the testing and usage of the different types of rain gear.

    I the opening scene, I (Kyle) support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing a PINK Tourmaster Sentinel rain jacket. 

    In this tip I will talk about some of the different options for both warm weather and cold weather rain protection. We will look at jackets, pants, gloves, and boots. 

    Most rain gear manufacturers use several key materials for the construction of their rain gear garments. The most common materials are PVC, Gore-Tex type, nylons, and polyesters.  

    PVC Rain Gear

    This is often seen as "emergency" or "throw away" rain gear and can be found just about anywhere! Several of our most popular brands of PVC gear are as follows:

    I must say that this evolution has been a WET and sometimes very uncomfortable process. I have tested many options, and the pieces below are the pieces that have kept me the most comfortable.

    Sissybar Luggage Tip of the Week

    As a general rule, there are for very popular or common types or styles of sissybar luggage and they are as follows:
    • Roll Bag: Can be used alone, but is usually used in conjunction with a sissybar bag (pack)
    • Glove Bag: A smaller bag large enough to hide away the essentials
    • Helmet Bag: A bag large enough to stow away at least one helmet if not two
    • Sissybar Bag (pack): A large bag designed to attache to the sissybar or passenger backrest of a motorcycle
    What materials are commonly used to for the making of sissybar luggage? 
    Typically there are textile, vinyl, leather and mesh are the most common materials used in the production of sissybar luggage. 
     
    Expandability is often a common feature of sissybar luggage. There are two very popular forms of sissybar luggage expansion:
    • Vertical Expansion: The Kuryakyn Full Dresser is a great example of vertical expansion. 
    • Outward or Width Expansion: The Heavy Duty Expandable sissybar bag is a great example of outward expansion.
    • Roll Bag: If your sissybar bag does not expand, you can add to your carrying capacity with the addition of a roll bag.

    Below you will find answers to four of the most commonly asked sissybar related questions presented to our customer service team daily:

    
    

    1. How does the sissybar attach?

    Most sissybar luggage attaches with bands which wrap around the sissybar. 

    
    

    2. Will this sissybar bag fit my bike? 

    Most sissybar luggage is universal and are not model specific. That being said, most luggage will fit most motorcycle sissybars.

    
    

    3. Can I use sissybar luggage without a luggage rack? 

    Personally I do not recommend the use of sissybar luggage without a sissybar luggage rack. If you do insist on not using a luggage rack, 

    look for a sissybar pack which has some sort of upper support designed to keep the bag off of your rear fender so as to prevent damage.

    
    

    4. Is this sissybar bag waterproof?

    Most sissybar bags are not waterproof. Many manufacturers either include a rain cover with the bag, or offer rain covers as accessory purchases. 

    In a pinch, you can cover your luggage with a large plastic trash bag to keep your valuables dry.
